How to Safely Clean Stuffed Animals?

Cleaning stuffed animals is easy, however, you need to know how to do it properly. Perhaps, you have already performed these chores by throwing the stuffed animals in your washing machine – and, unfortunately, they probably came out in a terrible condition.

In order to properly clean them without any damage so that your kid doesn’t cry the entire day because their favourite toy is ruined, I will teach you how to still use your washing machine but avoid all risks of damage.

How to Safely Clean Stuffed Animals?

Before we get to the actual cleaning, I recommend you check the stuffed animal for any tears or loose stitching because you would want to fix those before you get to cleaning.

Once you fix these issues, grab a mesh bag or a pillowcase because you would want to place the stuffed animal inside to prevent the washing machine to damage the toy. I also recommend you wash the stuffed animal by itself – just place it inside the mesh bag or the pillowcase, tie it well so it doesn’t open during the cycle, and throw it in the washing machine.

Only use a gentle cycle and also don’t add too much laundry detergent or fabric softener – after all, the toy will be the only thing inside the appliance so you don’t need too much liquid.

When the cycle is complete, take the toy outside of the pillowcase and place it in a sunny area so it dries quicker. If it’s warm outside, I also recommend placing it out on your balcony and just forgetting about it for a few hours until it’s nice and dry.

Do not use your dryer because it will for sure damage the toy.

A Recipe For A Homemade Glass Cleaner Provided By Experts

You need four ingredients you already have at home – filtered water, cornstarch, rubbing alcohol, and white vinegar!

If you don’t have filtered water go for distilled water but make sure you DO NOT use tap water because it will leave streaks and spots behind.

Now, grab a clean spray bottle and add a cup of water (but make sure it’s hot so the other ingredients can mix easily). Continue with adding half a tablespoon of cornstarch, 1/8 a cup of rubbing alcohol, and 1/8 a cup of white vinegar. Close the bottle and shake well until the cornstarch has mixed and there is no powder sitting on the bottom.

And that’s it – you now have my favourite glass cleaner in the whole world! It’s easy, cheap, and effective. I also recommend you shake the bottle before each use. I like to use a microfiber cloth rather than paper towels because they can leave streaks behind – and we don’t want that, right?

I am certain you are going to love the results. I use this cleaner on any glass surface – from windows to mirrors. Sometimes, I even use it as an all-purpose cleaner due to the rubbing alcohol that’s in it (after all, it’s the best disinfectant)!

How To Deep Clean Your Dishwasher With A Steam Cleaner?

We all know how important maintaining our kitchen appliances spotless is. After all, it’s the only way to ensure they have a long lifespan, are free of any germs, and perform well.

When you don’t clean your appliances, they have a huge chance of performing terribly then, over time, breaking down – and the last thing you want is for these appliances that you use on regular basis to have a short lifespan, right? No one wants to spend money on replacing them which is why I am going to show you how I deep clean my dishwasher – one of the most important things in my kitchen after my oven!

And I know what you are thinking – using a steam cleaner for your dishwasher… I know it sounds weird, however, it makes the cleaning so much easier especially when the appliance is really dirty!

How To Deep Clean Your Dishwasher With A Steam Cleaner?

Start off with pouring water into your steam cleaner. I usually like using distilled water instead of tap water, however, if you don’t have that right now – just fill it with tap water, it’s not a problem! I wait for a few minutes so that the machine can heat up the water and then I start cleaning.

I steam the door first – both inside and out! You will notice that the steam will loosen up all of the impurities and the stain – which is amazing and will save you a lot of time (and hours of scrubbing). Once I am done with the door, I grab paper towels and simply wipe everything so I can remove all the impurities.

Then I continue with steaming the inside of the appliance. I focus on any stains since they are harder to remove. Don’t spend too much time on the interior because we will run a cycle with vinegar so the rest of the impurities can get washed away. Once you are happy with the result, wipe with paper towels.

Then grab the vinegar – it will tackle not only the residue but the hard water stains as well. I pour the liquid in a cup then place it on the top rack. If the appliance is extremely dirty then I also recommend you pour baking soda on the bottom rack – and then just run a hot cycle.

And just like that, you now have a spotless dishwasher. I like to do this once a month just to keep everything clean!

How To Remove Old Stains And Smells From Your Mattress?

Discovering a stain on your mattress can be a huge nightmare especially if you have a mattress cover that you take off once every few months. Yes, technically mattress covers are supposed to protect your mattress from stains, however, sometimes they tend to leak and this is when a stain will form. This is why I highly recommend you switch your mattress cover to a waterproof one!

When you have no idea when did this stain happened, removing it can be pretty challenging – but don’t worry too much about it because I am here to show you how to get rid of not only stains but also bad odours!

Here Is How To Do It!

First, start off with preparing all the ingredients you will need – a spray bottle, hydrogen peroxide, some baking soda, liquid dish soap, vacuum cleaner, and your favourite essential oil! I recommend using lavender or tea tree because they have antibacterial properties!

Add a cup of hydrogen peroxide with 3 tablespoons of baking soda, a few drops of liquid dish soap, and a few drops of the essential oil in a spray bottle.

Mix well then spray over the affected area. You want to soak and saturate the stain so don’t hold back when spraying.

Then just let the area air-dry. You can also place the mattress in the sun so it dries quicker.

And finally, just vacuum up the baking soda and you are done – the stains and the bad odour should both be removed!

How To Remove Gum From Upholstery?

Dropping gum on your upholstery is definitely not a good thing because the removal process can be challenging, however, it’s not impossible.

I have two different removal methods that you can use – all of which work and are super easy to follow!

Here Is What You Need To Do!

– The First Method:

The first method I have for you is super easy – just cut a piece of duct tape and place the sticky side over the gum. Then just pull away.

Repeat these steps until you remove the gum completely!

This is probably the easiest way to remove gum from upholstery – not only won’t you waste too much time but you also don’t need any cleaners or detergents. Plus, you won’t make a mess!

– The Second Method:

The second method I have for you is also pretty easy. Just add ice in a zip lock bag and place it over the gum so you can freeze it. Once it’s hardened, scrape it off with a butter knife. The gum will most likely break into pieces.

Then vacuum the residue. If any gum remains, soak a cloth in soapy water and treat the area with it!

How To Easily Remove Paint From Glass?

If you recently renovated your home and you painted the walls then you are most likely dealing with leftover paint all over your windows and mirrors. This can be super frustrating because no matter how hard you try to avoid applying paint on glass surfaces, you still end up leaving a huge mess behind. I know that this task may seem pretty difficult and time-consuming, however, I am here to reassure you that there is indeed a pretty easy way to get rid of paint from glass – and today I am going to show you how to do it!

How To Easily Remove Paint From Glass?

Start off by filling a bucket with warm water. Also, make sure to add liquid dish soap in there.

Then soak a towel or a cloth in the mixture then clean the window. You won’t remove any paint with this, however, you will wipe away any impurities and dirt which will make the paint removal easier. Make sure you rinse the windows with clear water before skipping to the next step.

Prepare a hand-held razor blade – you will scrap the paint off the glass with it. I have tried plenty of other removal methods, however, this seems to be the easiest one. Make sure you hold the blade at a 45-degree angle for the best results.

And finally, once you are done, and you have removed all paint simply wipe the window with a rag – and that’s it!

How To Remove Pee Stains And Bad Odour From A Mattress

I have two dogs – and I remember how difficult it was for me to train them where to go pee which meant that for quite some time they would pee where they weren’t supposed to – for example, on my bed. This left stains and pretty bad odours that I didn’t want on my mattress – so I had to figure out a way to get rid of both the stains and the odour.

After researching and talking to friends, I came to the conclusion that this wasn’t a difficult task – in fact, I just needed to use a few natural ingredients and both the stain and the smell will be gone!

What You Need?

You have to prepare baking soda, liquid dish soap, hydrogen peroxide, and your favourite essential oil. Of course, the essential oil is not necessary, however, it will help with the odour so I recommend it. I usually use lavender because it has antibacterial properties!

Add all ingredients to a spray bottle then gently spin the bottle so everything can mix.

Then remove all sheets from your mattress and spray the stained areas with your DIY stain remover! And then you will just wait for your mattress to dry. You won’t have to scrub or rub the area – the mixture will do all the work for you! The hydrogen peroxide and the liquid soap will get rid of the stain while the baking soda and essential oil will take care of the odour!

Once the area is completely dry, grab your vacuum cleaner so you can get rid of the baking soda – and that’s it. Your mattress will be spotless without any trace of the pee (and the bad smell)!

How To Clean Your Rusty Cast Iron Pan?

I love my cast iron pan. In fact, I have a few of them because I really like using them. They are also super durable and will last you a long time if you take proper care of them.

However, one downfall of cast iron pans is that they tend to get rusty pretty quickly. Of course, there is a way to avoid this from happening – and I will tell you exactly how to do that but if yours is already rusty then you need to take care of this problem first before you move on to the “preventing” part of the process!

So How To Clean A Rusty Cast Iron Pan?

It’s much more simple than you probably think. You need two ingredients to clean it – a potato and salt.

Cut your potato in half then sprinkle some salt all over the pan. Grab one half of the potato and start scrubbing the pan with it. The salt and the potato work extremely well in removing rust and cleaning your pan in general.

Once you are done, rinse the pan with hot water – avoid using soap!

How To Prevent Rust?

In order to maintain your pan spotless at all times, you need to create a protective layer of the surface. You can do that with olive oil – it’s super simple yet important for taking proper care of your cast iron pan.

Start off with preheating your oven then placing the pan in there for a few minutes so it can be warm. Then take it out, pour a bit of olive oil in there, and spread it evenly with a paper towel. Next, once again place the pan inside your oven for a few hours.

Once you take it out, wait for the pan to cool down and wipe it with a paper towel to remove the excess oil. Repeat these steps twice so you can really coat the surface with the oil – and you are done!

How To Clean Your Bathroom In Under 15 Minutes?

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could clean your bathroom quickly – without wasting any of your free time? What if I told you that I clean my bathroom in under 15 minutes? If you are interested and you want to know how I do it then keep on reading because I share all my secrets in this article!

How To Clean Your Bathroom In Under 15 Minutes?

Now, the first thing I want you to know is that I clean my bathroom once a week – usually, each Monday. That way, there aren’t a lot of impurities and soap scum build-up which are harder to remove. I make sure I keep my bathroom as clean as possible at all times so each week I can easily spend only 15 minutes for the cleaning.

Another tip I have is to gather all of your cleaning supplies and place them in the bathroom so you don’t have to run around searching for different cleaners and sponges while you are cleaning. You simply pile up everything you need and start performing the cleaning! I use a few microfiber cloths, a glass cleaner, a disinfectant (or a bathroom cleaner), baking soda, a toilet cleaner (sometimes I only use vinegar so if you don’t have a toilet cleaner around you then stick to using vinegar, it works great).

I always start with the mirrors. I quickly spray them with my glass cleaner then wipe them with my microfiber cloth.

Then it’s time to cover the sink, the bathtub, the toilet, and the shower. I simply spray everything with my disinfectant then wait a few minutes so it has time to work and actually get rid of all bacteria. A lot of people make the mistake of spraying disinfectant and wiping it immediately which is very wrong. Disinfectants are supposed to be left for a few minutes before wiped so they have time to remove the bacteria.

Then I pour vinegar into my toilet, grab the toilet brush and scrub the walls. Once I am done, I flush!

And just like that, my bathroom is spotless – and I didn’t spend more than 15 minutes cleaning it!

How To Make Scented Vinegar?

Do you enjoy making your own cleaners by simply following the DIY recipes you find on the internet? I know I do, I even consider it a hobby of mine. I enjoy saving money while using natural ingredients and avoiding those commercial cleaners that are packed with harsh chemicals.

One of the most important ingredients that are commonly found in almost any DIY cleaner out there is vinegar. Of course, vinegar is an amazing cleaner and disinfectant that will leave any surface spotless, however, there is one huge downfall – the smell. That horrible scent is probably the reason why so many people avoid making their all-purpose cleaner. Thankfully, today I will teach you exactly how to get rid of that smell – it’s simple!

The Answer Is Scented Vinegar!

If you have tried to add a few drops of essential oils to vinegar you know that this technique doesn’t really work. In fact, it doesn’t work at all and it won’t mask the vinegar smell. What you need to do instead is infuse the vinegar with different herbs and make scented vinegar!

How To Make Scented Vinegar?

Prepare a large mason jar or any other container that has a lid on it. Then, the most important part is to prepare different herbs, citrus peels, and/ or dried flowers. These things will infuse the vinegar with its scent!

I love using mint leaves, orange and lemon peels, as well as fresh rosemary. Picking out what you want the vinegar to smell like is the fun part and you can choose to make any combination! Be creative and have fun with it!

After you decided which herbs and citrus peels you will use, place them in the mason jar then pour as much vinegar as the container will fit. Next, place the lid and leave the jar for a few days so the vinegar has time to infuse. I would suggest waiting 3-4 days but if you aren’t in a rush you can leave it for a week.
